THE BRANDING OF DADDY D’S HONEY

SCOPE

Daddy D was the grandfather. Honey was the Grandmother. In memory of both, their Granddaughter wanted to start a natural honey business and call it Daddy D’s Honey. We were contracted to create a complete branding package from product design and packaging to website and marketing.

LOGO DESIGN

For this project I had an idea for the perfect logo. One that represented family values and a product of nature. I went with a vintage look that would pay tribute to wonderful couple that inspired it.

While the design was pretty much perfect, the colors needed work until we hit that perfect golden honey sweet spot.

LOGO ANIMATION

The client wanted the wings to flap on the logo. While I warned against overuse to prevent distractions, I also thought it would be a cute application in some instances.

PRODUCT DESIGN AND PACKAGING

The first step for the product design and packaging was to decide on the jar type. Do we want to use a standard mason jar, a plastic bottle or something a little more unique and clever. We settled on a honeypot shaped jar.

The initial labels were simple, then we went a bit busy with a Tennessee scenic shot, and the decided to revert back to simple. While we wanted a clean label we wanted the jar to sell itself.

We opted for a hang tag which evolved into a hang magnet, advertising the website, that would hang from some ribbon that would be used to hold the drapery over the lid.

We designed a second product/label design that would include a chunk of honeycomb. Additional flavors will follow soon.

Lastly we designed shipping tape with Daddy D’s Honey branding incorporated.

WEBSITE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

For the website we went through several layouts and designs. I’ve saved you from most of them, to save space and time, I have included the initial and the final.

The website was to be simple and clean while representing the brand.

INITIAL DRAFT

This is an ongoing project and more will be added as it moves forward.
