Rebranding...Is it important?

The importance of rebranding really depends on the current state of your brand. According to YourDictionary.com, rebranding is "Marketing the same product under a different identity". Wikipedia.com states that "Rebranding is the creation of a new name, term, symbol, design, or a combination of them for an established brand with the intention of developing a differentiated (new) position in the mind of stakeholders and competitors."

Basically we define rebranding as developing a new look, feel, or energy even, for your product, service, business, etc...

Now is rebranding important? Yes it is, but Again, it depends on your current brand. Is it working? Is it up to date with today's trends? Does it attract the demographic that you are trying to reach? Is it easily recognizable, memorable, or does it reflect the image that you wish your customers to perceive? If the answer is "no" to any of these questions, than its time for rebranding.

What exactly is involved in rebranding?

  • Logo updating or redesign
  • Website redesign
  • Package redesign
  • stationary redesign
Pretty much any visual aspect of your business is a part of your brand. Anything that is used to represent your business. When the rebranding process begins, each of these elements need to be evaluated and more than likely redesigned.

Does this mean you need to make a complete change? No. For example if you have a logo that is working for you for the most part, but may be a little outdated, you don't necessarily need to have a complete redesign of the logo, but rather just an updating of the style of the logo. Something that will better represent today. In some cases however, a complete redesign may be required.

Many large businesses go through the rebranding process....

If you are no longer getting the sales conversions you once did, or are having a hard time selling your service or product, it may be time for rebranding.
